International athletics products company New Balance is to set up its EMEA headquarters in Birchwood, after agreeing a deal for a 30,000 sq ft building.
The business, which is headquartered in Boston in the US, has leased the 30,666 sq ft Appleton House building at Birchwood Point Business Park on a ten-year lease.
New Balance, which produces trainers as well as athletic clothing, is set to move into the building in September after fit-out work is completed.
CBRE represented New balance and Savills acted for landlord Aviva. CBRE’s building consultancy team is to design and manage the fit-out.
Michelle Rothwell, senior surveyor for office agency at CBRE’s Manchester office, said: “We conducted an extensive search on behalf of New Balance and Appleton House matched their requirement for a stand-alone headquarter building with potential to create the modern working environment they are seeking to reflect the nature of their brand.”
Julian Cobourne, asset manager at Aviva, added: “Having undertaken a significant refurbishment, it is satisfying to be attracting a tenant of the profile and quality of New Balance.
“This location remains highly attractive for office occupiers and this letting is testament to the investment in the building and the high quality refurbishment.”
New Balance was originally founded in the early 1900s as an arch support company in Boston before developing into a specialist shoe manufacturer in the 1970s and then growing to provide further athletic products.
